What is refinishing?   top
Refinishing is the replacement of the original shine with sprayed on modern polymer products that replicate your tub's finish. The procedure is also called reglazing or resurfacing. The procedure is much like painting a car. Our finish is a hard-drying material for the greatest durability, yet remains slightly elastic to prevent against damage from quick temperature changes.

Why can't it be brushed or rolled on?   top
The spray application helps to achieve a uniform product.

Does it look like it's painted?   top
Usually it takes a sharp eye to discern a good refinish job from a new tub. Part of that result stems from quality equipment, materials and experience. Our work speaks for itself!

Can you change colors?   top
We can refinish over any color to a new color, or you may keep the same color. Any color you can imagine can be made for your bath.

Is it cheaper to have you service only the small area that is worn?   top
While chips and small damaged areas can be repaired independently of the rest of a fixture, worn tubs typically look best when bathtubs are completely refinished.

Does my bathtub have to be removed to be refinished?   top
No. All the work can be done in your home.

Do my faucet and drain have to come out?   top
Good refinishing practice requires the drain to be left out until the finish is dry before the drain is reinstalled. The faucet must not drip. The drain may stay in place just so it is in good repair. We prefer a drain and faucet that are in good working order.

Do the shower doors have to come out?   top
If you do not intend to replace the doors, the track may stay in place.

I'm doing other work in the bathroom. When should I have the tub refinished?   top
Plan to have the bathtub refinished last. This minimizes the likeliness that any other work you are doing will damage your new finish.

The caulk is in bad shape. Can you fix this with the tub?   top
Chances are that failing caulk is a minor symptom of wall damage behind the tile or surround. The condition of the caulk is a good indicator of moisture penetration. Walls that you aren't planning to replace may have taken on water and will shed crumbs from the tub-wall seam which will land in your finish when the tub is refinished. Replace or repair the wall first.

Can chips, rust, or stains be repaired?   top
In more than 98% of cases, we've 'saved the day' with our repairs. Chips, scratches, and cracks are gone when refinished. Rust and stains are typically associated with worn tubs, aging plumbing, or water quality. Any repair will only be performed when we are certain the source of the damage has been resolved.

Does refinishing take care of the rough spots on the bathtub?   top
While performing the "prep", rough spots can be repaired. Our estimator or service technician will be able to explain outcomes and options to you.

How long does it take to refinish a bathtub?   top
A typical bathtub can be refinished in 3 to 4 hours. Condition, size, accessibility and field conditions can change that.

How soon can I use the tub?   top
Depending upon the services your tub receives, your tub could be ready in as soon as 4 hours after refinishing.

How do I take care of the refinished bathtub?
   top
Because a refinished bathtub behaves much like an automotive finish, you should protect it from impact damage, abrasive media, and strong cleaners. Try one of our slip resistance products instead of using a mat. Towel drying is a great habit. And waxing has benefits as the finish endures.

How long will refinishing last?
   top
Durable refinishing starts with a good condition bathtub. Secondly, a tub that's dry between uses goes a long way. Then you must care for the finish. These three factors are your key to a long-lasting finish. We provide complete care instructions to help keep you a step ahead of your finish and to help achieve the greatest durability from our product.

How does a refinished tub compare to a plastic tub liner or a new tub?
   top
Liners can cost nearly 5 times as much as some refinish jobs and new bathtubs installed with a remodel job can cost 10 to 25 times as much as refinishing. Refinishing can be delivered on shorter notice. When they age 20 years: you will need a new liner if it has not yet cracked on the bottom; you will need a new bathtub since the original luster is likely worn. The refinished tub can be repaired or redone, still at a fraction of the cost of the tub or liner installation. If there is a crack in a liner, it can not be repaired and must be replaced and will cost you a half day of labor to remove and reinstallation of new. If a new bathtub is damaged, average quality repairs can become more evident in time. Damaged refinish jobs can be quickly repaired to an almost invisible appearance. While results will vary due to owner care, most will experience a useful life near 10 years.
